Traffic exchange is a nice place to generate free traffic for your favourite website.Traffic exchanges runs on a basic methodology : you see my site i see yours.Many people do not like TE due to the forceful hit the exchanges generate.

But if your goal is to create brand awareness for your product,then TEs are one of the best places to do so.TEs are not popular to generate leads/sells/clicks.For such objectives opt for simple SEO tactics.Although TES can be used to increase your Alexa rank which is preferred by Google or Yahoo Search Algorithms.

TEs offer surfing ratios like 2:1 or 3:2 i.e. for 2 surf you will get 1 hit or for 3 surf get 2 hits for free members.If you upgrade you can get 1:1 or more.Some surf exchange like Surf at 10 offers 1:1 ratio even for its free members.When selecting a TE remember to see the surf ratio and number of people using the site.More people means more viewers and higher surf ratio means lesser time spend surfing.

Create a plan for your surf and the type of urls you want to add.Fix one hour for surfing/day.Use splash pages or pages which have less word more picture and explains what you want to offer within very few words.Personalization also works.Insert a picture of yourself above your recommendations.It will create your brand and also weigtage of the recommendations that you are making.Don't include blogs or sites with many words.TE visitors want to generate traffic from you so they will not weight for your words.But pictures CAN WORK wonders.

TEs also allow you to rotate banners and text ads.But use of these are optional and often get me confused.Continue daily surfing schedule for at least one to two months to see any results.If nothing substantial comes up : QUIT.
