What is Remote Sensing ?

Remote Sensing is the science and art of acquiring information (spectral, spatial, temporal) about material objects, area, or phenomenon, without coming into physical contact with the objects, or area, or phenomenon under investigation.

Why Remote Sensing ?

Scientists of many disciplines are accustomed to studying data that cannot be observed through direct contact.

Physicists and chemists, for instance, know a great deal about the structure of the atom, even though even the most high-powered microscope cannot make an atom visible to the human eye.

The objects of study for earth scientists are often similarly remote, though not necessarily because they are small.

In some cases, the problem is quite the opposite: an area selected for study is too large to provide understanding to geologists working only on the ground.

Other areas are simply inaccessible to human beings or even their equipment.

This has necessitated the development of remote sensing equipment and techniques, primarily involving views from the air or from space and utilizing electromagnetic radiation across a wide spectrum.

A new version of Water Quality Index Calculator was launched today.The feedbacks from the past version was included in this version.Like,in V2 you can estimate WQI of a set of data by importing an entire excel datasheet and found the value as Final WQI.Another advantage of this version is you can save and/or export the data as per your requirment.Though V2,this apps is presently in beta.Lots of bugs may arise.Please notify me if you find any.More.
